IEMCET BBA/BCA aptitude preparation: Subject-verb agreement — practice worksheet with answers

How to use this worksheet

This independent worksheet checks subject-verb agreement with a new problem, an explanation task and an interleaved related skill. It is not an official IEM question paper, a difficulty forecast or a prescribed timed examination.

Write an attempt first, then compare your method with the visible answers. Record whether a miss came from interpretation, a missing concept, execution or a condition you overlooked.

Question 1: apply the topic

Choose the standard form: The students in the room is/are ready.

Answer and checking point

Are: the head students is plural.

Return to the wording and test the proposed answer. Check the base of a percentage, the weights in an average and the units in a rate. For language tasks, verify agreement and context without adding facts the passage never supplies.

Question 2: diagnose an approach

Explain why the following warning matters and identify the correction it calls for: A nearby plural noun inside a modifying phrase does not necessarily make the subject plural.

Model checkpoint: A finite verb agrees with the grammatical subject, not automatically with the nearest noun. Governing rule: Identify the head of the subject phrase before selecting singular or plural agreement.

Question 3: transfer to reading inferences and evidence

The passage says all registered participants received a link. Can you infer a registered participant received one?

Answer: Yes, under the passage's stated universal claim.

This is an interleaved related-skill task, not a claim that the two topics have identical methods. Explain which idea changes when switching from the main topic to this one.

Review the attempt

Separate correct answers reached with a justified method from lucky guesses. Rework missed steps without looking at the answer, then use a fresh problem from an appropriate primary textbook or official paper. Do not use a small worksheet result as an admission cutoff, rank or readiness guarantee.
