Check that foundational mathematics comes before specialised modelling exercises.

Verify access through a practical task

Separate training, validation and test observations before preprocessing, define a simple baseline and compare an improved model under the same evaluation. Explain false positives, false negatives and limitations for different groups. Keep the data provenance, random seeds and execution instructions with the results.

Ask what shared compute, GPU booking, storage and laboratory hours are included. A demonstration using a paid cloud service does not establish that every student receives sustained access. Set a personal cap for optional model experiments and use small reproducible baselines first. Separate a compulsory institutional charge from an elective external course or competition cost.
