CSE: internship and placement evidence questions for IEM and UEM

Identify the role you are investigating

Investigate software development, systems, testing and data-related roles by reading the actual responsibilities and entry assessments. A recruiter name does not establish that every computing programme may apply. Request the eligible branch list, selection stages and number of students joining each role. Check whether reported compensation describes recurring salary or a larger package with conditional components.

Ask for the work behind the internship

Build a small library-management service with persistent records, search, user permissions and a reproducible setup. Explain the data model, compare search strategies and measure response times as the number of records grows. Include invalid input, duplicate borrowing and interrupted updates in the tests. The finished repository should let another student reproduce both correct behaviour and known limitations.

A polished interface can hide weak engineering. Inspect what happens when a record is missing, two users update the same item or a query receives unexpected data. Separate the algorithmic cost from network and storage delays. This exercise reveals whether you enjoy tracing failures and improving foundations, rather than only assembling a working demonstration.

Use a comparable cohort

For CSE, request the actual programme, graduating year, number seeking work, students placed and students continuing to study. Keep multiple offers separate from unique students. Ask whether internship data describe applications, selections, starts or completed work. A placement percentage without its denominator cannot be compared fairly with another course, campus or year.

Check the skills and practical access

Inspect the progression from introductory programming to data structures, algorithm analysis, operating systems, databases and networks. Look for prerequisites that connect these subjects rather than isolated tool demonstrations. Check whether electives allow exploration of security, machine learning or systems without replacing essential foundations. Ask how individual programming competence is assessed inside a team project.

The current engineering microsite lists plain CSE at Salt Lake. Verify the teaching building, laboratory access and the campus printed on the offer. If a counsellor describes another location, obtain the exact current programme listing rather than translating a group-wide CSE label into a seat at that location.

Separate evidence from a promise

The IEM NIRF 2026 engineering submission is institution-level historical evidence, not a guarantee for CSE. Do not replace a missing course-level record with the highest package or a group recruiter list. Keep offer evidence, joining outcomes and salary definitions distinct, and use your own project work to identify what preparation a desired role would still require.
