The Kolkata 2026 IT row lists X 70%, XII 70% and PCM 50%. These differ from the plain CSE thresholds and should be checked independently. Record your subject-wise marks and ask the applicable aggregation method. Do not interpret a general statement that you qualify for computing as a confirmed IT offer.

Match your academic evidence

Create a Information Technology evidence sheet with the qualification name, board or university, examination year, subject-wise marks and the exact programme requested. Keep original marksheets separate from any self-calculated aggregate. If the form uses a different subject abbreviation, preserve both wordings and ask for a written mapping. A verbal assurance is not the same as an eligibility decision.

Identify preparation gaps

Information Technology deserves comparison through its actual computing and information-systems work rather than a fixed hierarchy beneath CSE. Test whether you enjoy building, operating and integrating useful software. An IT title alone does not reveal the depth of algorithms or mathematical study. Inspect compulsory modules and project requirements before choosing between nearby computing options.

Compare programming, data structures, databases, networks, software engineering and systems administration with the alternative curriculum. Ask how students practise deployment, monitoring and access control alongside development. Check elective freedom and individual assessment. Shared recruiters or classrooms do not establish that IT and CSE have identical academic requirements.

Resolve the outstanding condition

The engineering microsite currently lists IT at Salt Lake. Verify the exact programme on the joining offer and request the department timetable or current campus listing. If another campus is proposed, obtain direct current evidence instead of transferring the Salt Lake listing across the group.

Before accepting the Information Technology offer, record each unresolved condition as a specific question with the supporting document. Separate marks eligibility, accepted entrance route and final document verification. Save the dated official response with your application record. This produces a usable checklist even when an institutional page contains an older or conflicting block.
