IEMJEE negative marking: understand the scoring arithmetic

The historical university pattern lists +4 for correct and −1 for wrong answers. Practise accuracy and verify the actual paper rules.

Historical scheme

The university IEMJEE page describes four marks for a correct answer and minus one for an incorrect answer. Confirm how unanswered questions and the next-cycle paper are scored before relying on this scheme.

Worked score example

Under +4/−1, 50 correct and 10 incorrect answers produce 50 × 4 − 10 = 190 marks. This example assumes unanswered questions carry zero and uses the historical rule; it is not a score-to-rank prediction.

Accuracy matters

Under that same model, replacing an incorrect answer with a correct one changes the score by five marks. Review mistakes and pacing together; simply attempting more questions does not establish a higher score.

Avoid invented cutoffs

Marks cannot be converted to a guaranteed rank or branch without an official result and current allocation data. Keep the scoring exercise separate from admissions advice.
